Malcolm`s Ice Cream & Food in Amarillo

Togo order was nasty. I'll never order here again. Stay away from this place

Happened across this restaurant by chance. I was glad we stopped in as the food was good and the prices are great. Restaurant is decorated with nostalgic signs and antiques. Ordered a patty melt and chocolate malt. The malt was good and for a junior size it was pretty big. They have a full size in which they bring the metal mixing cup over with the leftover but it would've been way too much malt for me lol. The party melt was surprisingly good. We also ordered bacon cheese fries to go with our orders. Lots of bacon but not much cheese. Came with a side of ranch. Fries were good; regular size & not extra thick. Service was so-so and interior could use a fresh coat of paint. Still if you want good food at a great price I'd stop in. Next time I'm in the area I'll probably return (the chicken fried steak sounded good 😉).

The waitstaff is alwayd very friendly, the food is very delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming and homey. The vintage signs and decoration looks very nice. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this lovely diner. I would definitely recommend to anyone in Amarillo or passing through!

First time going. Ordered a sandwich which was fine. Halfway through eating we ordered some fries. The waitress brought out some fries that appeared to be left over from another table. There was a corndog stick on the plate with the fries. Won't be back.

Reliably good. Chicken fried steak always a good choice here. Reasonably sized portion with cream gravy and fries. Side salad of fresh crisp iceberg with tomatoes and cucumbers. Fast, friendly service. One of the first places I eat when in Amarillo.

Had a friend who took me for ice cream. It was very good. Had a nice time

I have yet to have a burger or sandwich at Malcolm's and not enjoy it. Their ice cream is yummy and I love the way they dress it up... so many options for your perfect shake or sundae.

This place is great. The food is excellent, especially the corned beef on toasted rye. The ice cream Sundaes are the old school type. Really awesome. The whole atmosphere is great. Antiques everywhere. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Classic small town diner feel in a city. Cant get any better than that.

We went for dessert. Their service was excellent and you can see their efforts to keep people safe during COVID-19. The ice cream was delicious. Great date night with my honey!

Service is fantastic. I had the garden salad with grilled chicken, which was awesome! I had to eat healthy to prepare me for ice cream, which is a must when you come here. I had the tuxedo sundae, which has never disappointed. Malcolm's is an institution in Amarillo and has been one of my favorites since i was a kid. I love it for what it is, and hope they never change.

The food was good, but the ice cream was small compared to the prices. I ordered to go and I was missing the kids meal so I had to drive all the way back for it and the manager offered nothing for the trouble. So check your To go bags carefully, and skip the ice cream and go to Braum's. You'll get more bang for your buck.

Usually love this place but they really dropped the ball today. Waited on my to go order for almost 30 minutes at the restaurant. It was sitting on the shelf the whole time. Food was not warm and fresh. Instead cold and greasy! They offered to remake my order but I wasn’t about to wait any longer. I understand being busy but hire more help and take care of your customers. Order wasn’t even right when I got home. Very disappointed!!!

I love this place! Before covid-19 precautionary measures. My husband and I have Friday night dates here over egg salad sandwich and malt! All staff are smiling, helpful and very nice! I recommend this place to everybody!

Went in last night ( Fri.6/14/19 ) a round 8:30 were told sit anywhere place wasn't really busy, my wife and I took a sit up front and waited, two waitresses were standing at the computer as you walk in not serving anyone another young waitress was serving 3 tables beside us off and on she walked by 4 times and never offered a menu or even spoke,another young waitress walked by and started refilling condiments at other tables never acknowledged us finally after 15 min. the young waitress serving the 3 tables beside us walked over to the table in front of us where a couple had already been served and had been enjoying their meal since we arrived she looked at us and said I'll be with you in a minute [ we got up and left ] worst service I have ever experienced.

I always enjoy Malcolm's. The food is awesome. But tonight it was so cold in there, I could not even eat. I took my sandwich home with me to finish. Now, I'm not saying don't go there. I'm just saying dress like it's winter or take a jacket!

Old school great place to eat. Everything on the menu is going to be a good choice.

The service was excellent and the ice cream was delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors. I got a cherry soda with a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream on top called a sidecar. It was a delicious chocolate cherry combination and completely satisfied my ice cream and Sweet Tooth craving. The atmosphere is very interesting with lots of antiques all over the walls. I'm not from the area but I understand this place has been here for many years and gone through generations of families that have come here for ice cream. I hope to make it back to try the food before I leave town.

I have a huge sweet tooth and I was looking for something to satisfy being that I'm visiting out of town, let me tell you this place delivers above and beyond not only with its handmade desserts and treats but it's amazing service is what was the cherry on top at the end !

The small town diner feel with an excellent selection of flavorful sandwiches and comfort food is complimented by the friendly, professional staff. I usually get the Reuben since it's one of the best in Amarillo. I've never gotten an ice cream treat but they've got to be good with the selection they have. They accommodated our larger group by rearranging tables.

Excellent food and service. Old timey atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The prices are really great and the food is pretty good. Just wish they'd clean up a little more. A lot of black coated onto the floor. This place has a unique feel they could really be taking advantage of with a little clean up and remodeling.

Wow! I been providing Google reviews for about five years and this place is in my top 10. Our server John was very attentive which is a joy in this Covid age. The kitchen was a tad slow, but I am good with that when my food is being freshly made. Everything came to the table as ordered and hot! Supposedly Malcolm's is known for its ice cream so my wife and son opted for the "Hot fudge cake" and I'm glad they decided to share because this thing covered every bit of a 8" plate. Only advice chill plates or cups you place ice cream or whipped cream in so it holds up better on the serving plate. Old fashioned restaurant. Absolutely amazing food and dessert 👌 best place to get your money's worth!

The steak fingers, chicken strips and chicken bits are all excellent! So are the burgers and they have a huge selection of sandwiches to boot. Their chocolate malts are super good. Served old fashioned style with refill in metal containers like the old drug store soda fountains. Service is friendly and always helpful. Try it, you'll love it and will want to return!

Our first visit was great. The decor is really interesting. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I would recommend Malcolm's to any of my friends. We ate lunch but no ice cream. My chicken fried steak was exceptionally good.

They did all the rules and regulations because of the virus and it was very good service

This place is a real diamond in the rough! We were at Joe Daddy's at an event and decided to eat at Malcolm's. So glad we did! The atmosphere is amazing! The prices are very fair and the customer service is above and beyond! You have to ask for Megan if she's available as she gave the best customer service I've had in a long time from a waitress! Also the Reuben is by far the best I've ever had! If you have not been to Malcolm's grab your family and get there soon!

I went with two other people ,senior citizens, I had the chicken salad sandwich with chips and a cup of coffee, was pretty good. Service is good. Had a scoop of mocha ice cream for dessert. Great place to go after church.

My wife and I ate here for lunch. Service was great and the food as well. I had the spicy chicken bites and she had the Patty melt. Ice cream is always great but today we didn't have any.

Anything I've ever had here is good. I usually get a cheeseburger with fries to go. Their fries are my favorite. Classic diner food and leave room for ice cream.

Great service and everything tasted great. Could have put a bit less gravy on the chicken fried steak but some people like that I guess. We ordered a small hot fudge caramel ice cream thing (I forgot the name) and my girlfriend said it tasted better than having sex.

One of my favorite local restaurants in Amarillo. Everything on the menu is delicious, and the ice cream is simply spectacular, though the portions are large. A frequent stop for my husband and me.

Great! We never think about them but obviously a lot of folks do! It was packed. We had ice cream and it was great. Food looks great too, we will be back.

Me and my grandmother love coming to this place however we came in we were told to put our number and name down and they will call when they have a seat open. After we saw the 3rd couple of people go in and be seated that came in after us. I walked in to be told he forgot about us and told us to wait another 10 minutes. I told him not to worry about it we’re going else where and never once did he care that we have been waiting patiently. I have given this company my business and always talked so highly about their food. I’m very disappointed this place really has went downhill in the past year.

I only had the ice cream and it was very good. Make sure you ask for the other flavors when picking your sundae, you can replace the chocolate/vanilla that's on the menu. Good southern hospitality.

We stopped to get ice cream to-go at 8:54pm and were told they close at 9pm, which we were aware of before we went. We were there with 5 minutes to spare they wouldn't serve us even though there were people eating in the restaurant. I could understand if we were trying to sit down and eat, but we weren't. But, I guess that's to be expected when kids are running the show.
